Providing Income Based Apartments in Monroe
Monroe Housing Commission provides Income Based Apartments and family housing for individuals and households who meet applicable eligibility requirements established by HUD.
Our 263 public housing units are located across two communities:
River Park Plaza features 146 one-bedroom units.
Greenwood Townhouses features 115 family housing units with two-, three-, and four-bedroom options.
Together, these communities provide affordable housing opportunities designed to serve different household needs within the City of Monroe.
More Than Housing
Monroe Housing Commission strives to enhance residents’ quality of life by offering a variety of educational and recreational programs.
Our communities are designed to provide residents with independent living options while connecting individuals and families with information and resources that can help support greater stability and quality of life.
Public Housing in Our Community
Monroe Housing Commission is a public housing provider. Unlike Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, the housing subsidy within public housing is connected to the unit rather than the individual or family.
People searching for affordable housing may encounter a variety of programs and terms, including public housing, Income Based Apartments, Tax Credit Apartments, and Section 8. These programs are not necessarily the same.
Monroe Housing Commission specifically operates public housing and does not provide Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Applicants are encouraged to review our housing and application information to better understand the programs available through Monroe Housing Commission.
Committed to Our Residents
Monroe Housing Commission is committed to maintaining quality public housing and providing responsive service to the individuals and families who call our communities home.
From helping prospective residents understand their housing options to providing current residents with access to important resources and information, we remain dedicated to serving the Monroe community.
Board of Commissioners
The actions and operations of Monroe Housing Commission are governed by its Board of Commissioners.
